Solidarity Message to NUMSA Motor

Dear colleagues, In the difficult collective bargaining in the automobile industry and the long struggle for a collective bargaining result, the workforces were always close to the strike. Now you are in a hard fight for your justified demands. In the face of a possible strike to enforce your demands we would like to send you our warmest solidarity greetings and give you our support.

With the harbingers of a global economic and financial crisis and the impact of the structural crisis based on the transition to electromobility and digitalization, hundreds of thousands of jobs in the automotive and automotive supply industries are facing annihilation worldwide. The intensified competition of the international monopolies of the automotive industry is to be carried out on the backs of the workers and their families. This intensifies the pressure on all workforces and requires a lot of strength to push through higher wages and working conditions for the workforces and their support by their families. This is linked to the fact that at the same time you are challenged to defend and extend your right to strike.

In the current collective bargaining round, you are courageously behind your demands and are fighting for full enforcement. We wish you much strength and stamina.

Your struggle is also our struggle!

From 19-23 February 2020 the 2nd International Automotive Workers Conference will take place south of Johannesburg in South Africa. We would like to cordially invite you. A report about the situation in the supplier industry and your struggle would enrich the conference very much. We would also welcome your providing delegates for the conference. Each country has the right to nominate up to 5 delegates with voting rights in consultation with the workforce and trade unions. In addition, guests from the supplier industry (such as NUMSA Motor) are very welcome to attend the whole conference.

Workshops and forums will be prepared in the context of the 2nd International Automotive Workers' Conference. A forum will be organized on the topic "Bosch and other suppliers to the automotive industry". There will be the possibility for you to take over responsibility to prepare this forum together with other forces. Please contact us: mailto: contact@iawc.info
