Workers across the world along with India are facing similar challenges. Restructuring, technological change and the transition towards new technologies must not become an excuse for mass job losses or for shifting the burden of corporate decisions onto workers and their families.
We firmly believe that workers must have a strong voice in decisions concerning restructuring, production and employment. Any transformation of the automotive industry must be a Just Transition, based on social justice, secure employment, reskilling and respect for trade union rights.
The struggle of Volkswagen workers in Germany is not only a struggle for workers in Germany. It is a struggle that concerns automobile workers everywhere.
From India, we send our message of unity:
YOUR STRUGGLE IS OUR STRUGGLE. NO STRUGGLE SHOULD STAND ALONE.
We stand together across borders for:
● No to mass job cuts and plant closures.
● Protection of secure and decent employment.
● Respect for trade union and workers’ democratic rights.
● Meaningful workers’ participation in restructuring decisions.
● A Just Transition that protects workers and their communities.
● A sustainable automotive industry with decent jobs for future generations.
Dear Comrades, on this Day of Action, know that automobile workers in India are standing with you in solidarity. Workers’ unity has no borders. When workers in one country stand up for justice and dignity, workers everywhere stand with them.
LONG LIVE VW WORKERS’ UNITY! LONG LIVE AUTOMOBILE WORKERS’ SOLIDARITY!
LONG LIVE INTERNATIONAL WORKERS’ SOLIDARITY!
In Solidarity,Shramik Ekta Mahasangh (SEM). (Kishor, Rohit ,Manoj)
