September 8. 2026: IAC-ICOG Justice South Africa: Dear Colleagues, dear Friends and dear Representatives of the Automotive Workers in VW. With great respect and appreciation, as the IAC/ICOG we would like to express our unconditional support and unwavering solidarity with you in your struggle against against plant closures and jobs cut. We are aware of the plans to cut 100 000 jobs worldwide in VW whilst in Germany alone, four plants employing thousands of workers are set to be closed.

You have every right to take up a decisive fight against this brutal attacks on our jobs. In our 3rd International Conference in Pune India in November 2025 we resolved to fight back against all the large-scale job cuts, factory closure plans, and attacks on workers’ democratic rights taking place in Germany and other countries. We believe that sacrificing workers’ livelihoods to maximize corporate profits is unacceptable and represents a serious attack on social justice, labour rights, and decent employment.
We condemn in the strongest possible terms the arrest of workers who were peacefully distributing the workers’ newspaper outside the Audi plant. The rights to organize, express opinions, and conduct peaceful labour activities are fundamental democratic rights. Any attempt to suppress these rights through police action is unacceptable.
We firmly believe that an injustice against workers in one country is an injustice against workers everywhere. Therefore, we stand in full solidarity with the just struggle of automotive workers across Germany and all other affected countries.
As IAC/ICOG we call for the:
-
Immediate halt to all Plant closures and job cuts.
-
End to police repression against workers and the withdrawal of all actions taken against the arrested worker activists.
-
Full respect for workers’ rights to organize, freedom of expression, and collective bargaining.
-
Industrial restructuring that places social justice and workers’ interests above corporate profits.
We fully support the principle adopted at the International Automotive Workers’ Conference: “No struggle should stand alone.” International working-class solidarity is our greatest strength, and we stand united with all workers fighting for justice, dignity, and secure employment.
Long Live Workers’ Unity!
Long Live International Solidarity!
