International Newsletter Stellantis No. 29 – December 2025

December 12, 2025: From the Stellantis Group Coordination in the IAC Dear colleagues, The 3rd International Automobile Workers Conference in India was a great success! Over 200 participants from India, representing the SEM and TUCI trade union federations, as well as from ten other countries, spent four days discussing, celebrating and demonstrating together. Colleagues from at least seven other countries participated virtually or sent messages of greeting. “Automotive workers stand up against exploitation, right-wing developments and fascism, the threat of war and environmental destruction!” – a programmatic resolution was adopted with this guideline. It directs the attention of automotive workers to the connection between their struggles for social and economic issues and the political struggle. In addition to the corporate forums, there were also thematic forums on topics ranging from health protection to socialism. The delegates' conference elected a new, stronger international coordination group from six countries. We also held a demonstration in the automotive workers' city of Pune and celebrated together in the evening. At a time when Stellantis is questioning plants worldwide, trying to play workforces off against each other, and spreading nationalist and fascist poison among the working class, a clear answer is needed: International worker unity, joint action, and consistent solidarity, which must be well organized!

With this newsletter, we want to report on the key points of the conference and help to ensure that the results become reality.

1. A joint struggle across the company instead of nationalist division – Why a joint company-wide day of action for spring 2026 must be prepared now.

The discussion at the Stellantis forum at the conference made it clear that Stellantis is trying to play the workforce off against each other internationally, but also to stir up division between permanent staff and temporary workers within the plants. The new head of Stellantis, Antonio Filosa, is deliberately pursuing a course of increased environmental destruction through combustion engines. He claims that he is only “listening to the market,” but in reality he is driven by capitalist greed, which is willing to ruthlessly sacrifice the existence of humanity for short-term profit gains. The best servants of capitalist corporations are the fascists with their agitation against environmental protection. We auto workers will not allow ourselves to be exploited for production that deprives our children and grandchildren of the foundations of life. We are taking responsibility for the future of humanity and building a strong international base movement to achieve this. No struggle must stand alone in the future!

We have decided on a joint international day of action in spring 2026 to protest against Stellantis' plans to close plants, massively cut back production in Europe, and systematically put pressure on employees. An exact date will be agreed upon with all parties involved as soon as possible. We will not wait until Stellantis announces its “new strategy” in May or June, but will loudly declare our opposition to them in advance! We have evaluated how, for example, international solidarity successfully prevented a planned plant closure in Eisenach, Germany. In contrast, solidarity with colleagues in Luton, UK, was insufficient. It is clear that without tough, transnational strikes, the attacks cannot be repelled. To achieve this, our coordination needs to be of a higher quality! We must also work more closely with trade unions, parties, and movements.

2. Delegates from India, Italy, and Germany took part in the Stellantis Forum after it was decided, together with delegates from the US and Brazil, to spread the previous joint coordination for GM and Stellantis across more shoulders. A new and strengthened group coordination for Stellantis was elected.

A letter from the CGT at Stellantis in France, which was presented at the conference, emphasizes that a whole series of plants in Europe are threatened with closure. The CGT supports the proposal not to wait until concrete closure plans are published, but to prepare an international day of action within the company now.

To this end, colleagues must deal with nationalistic attempts at division, such as when it is claimed in Termoli, Italy, that engines from France are inferior, or when trade unions in Germany, France, or Italy demand investment only for “their” respective countries.

At the end of the conference, we sent a video message of solidarity with the current strike by our Italian colleagues in Melfi, who informed us about their struggle.

3. The conference passed a resolution with a clear common line:

• No space for fascist, nationalist, or divisive ideologies

• No to war, arms production, and militarization that pit workers against each other

• Protection of the environment instead of profit maximization at the expense of the future

• International unity as the basis of all struggles

This resolution is more than a piece of paper—it is the mandate that the participants took home with them.

4. The focus now is on preparing a strong, well-organized joint day of action against Stellantis' plans. The goals must be:

* A declaration of struggle and further gathering of forces for the necessary tough fight to prevent the planned plant closures and job losses

* Solidarity against repression

* No passing on of the crisis to the workforce

* Expansion of contacts in all countries with Stellantis plants. To this end, we also want to increase personal visits and discussions with the aim of establishing long-term networking

* Reduction of working hours with full wage compensation throughout the group

* Raising awareness that combustion engines and arms production are not alternatives because they destroy the future.

We look forward to your suggestions, information about new developments, and your feedback in preparation for the international day of action. Do you have connections to other plants? Send us reports about discussions among the workforce, good arguments, but also about problems that still need to be solved.

Solidarity greetings,

Your Stellantis Group Coordination
